Carefood Industries Sdn. Bhd., the Malaysian food manufacturing company behind the AsianMeals brand, has been honoured at the APAC Business Awards 2025, receiving dual recognition for its long-standing contribution to authentic Asian cuisine and food manufacturing excellence .
The company was named Most Innovative Food Manufacturing Company 2025, while its Founder and Managing Director, Mickey Quah Kim Bong, was awarded Food Manufacturing Pioneer of the Year 2025. These awards recognise more than three decades of dedication to preserving Asian food heritage while making it accessible to modern kitchens around the world.
Carefood Industries was established in 1989 with a clear vision: to simplify the preparation of traditional Asian dishes without compromising authenticity. What began as a sauces-focused operation has grown into a comprehensive product portfolio of over 400 items, including Malaysian, Chinese, Indian, Korean, and Japanese sauces, as well as pre-mixed pastes, instant noodles, and soup bases under the AsianMeals brand.
At the heart of this growth is a commitment to reducing complex recipes into just two or three simple steps, enabling consistent results for both home cooks and professional kitchens across global markets.
Today, AsianMeals products are exported to countries including Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, Australia, Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. The brand’s international success is supported by rigorous adherence to global quality and safety standards, including full halal certification.
All products are manufactured without pork or lard, and production facilities are maintained in accordance with Muslim standards. This has positioned AsianMeals as a trusted choice across Muslim-majority and ASEAN markets, while also appealing to global consumers seeking clean-label, responsibly produced food products.
In 2013, Carefood Industries formed a strategic partnership with a leading Japanese food manufacturer to develop a range of halal-certified Japanese sauces, addressing growing regional demand, particularly within the B2B and foodservice sectors.
The company primarily serves supermarkets, distributors, wholesalers, and foodservice operators, with a strong focus on products that are free from additives, preservatives, and artificial colours or flavours. In addition, Carefood Industries offers bespoke sauce development services, allowing restaurant clients to co-create customised, halal Asian sauces tailored to their specific needs.
This restaurant-quality approach has earned praise from culinary professionals, including former MasterChef chef Helmut F. J. Holzer, who cited AsianMeals as his top choice for authentic, premium recipes.
Founder Mickey Quah Kim Bong’s journey into food manufacturing followed an earlier career in large-scale event management. Recognising a decline in traditional cooking practices alongside growing demand for local Asian cuisine, he set out to develop products that would both preserve cultural heritage and meet modern lifestyle demands.
Despite increased competition over the years, Carefood Industries has continued to expand through innovation, recently securing manufacturing contracts for international restaurant chains and exploring new retail opportunities in Japan and China.
The APAC Business Awards 2025 recognition reflects Carefood Industries’ enduring role as a benchmark for quality, authenticity, and innovation in Asian food manufacturing. Through AsianMeals, the company continues to deliver wholesome, halal, and authentic flavours that honour Asia’s culinary traditions while supporting kitchens worldwide.
We welcome distributors, importers, and food businesses interested in working with AsianMeals products in their markets.
